DR. SIDERIS ELECTED VICE PRESIDENT OF THE INTERNATIONAL UNION OF GEODESY AND GEOPHYSICS (IUGG)

The Department of Geomatics Engineering of University of Calgary has announced that Professor Michael G. Sideris, who completed his 2007-2011 term as President of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG), is the new Vice President of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) for the period 2011-2015.

DR. AHMED SHAKER RECEIVED THE 2011 CANADIAN REMOTE SENSING SOCIETY (CRSS) BRONZE MEDAL AWARD

Dr. Ahmed Shaker Assistant Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering at Ryerson University and the network investigator of GEOIDE Project SII-PIV-72, has been honoured as the 2011 Canadian Remote Sensing Society (CRSS) Bronze Medal Award recipient for his outstanding contributions to satellite sensor modelling and applications of remote sensing in civil engineering.

GEOMED 2011 is the 7th international, interdisciplinary conference on spatial statistics and geomedical systems which will be held in Inn at Laurel Point Hotel, Victoria, British Columbia from 20 to 22 October, 2011.
