2nd GSN STUDENT SHOWCASE |
GEOIDE Annual Scientific Conference 2011 |
In order to foster more collaboration and interaction within the GEOIDE Students' Network (GSN) members, current and alumni, and between the GSN members and the broader geomatics research and industry community, the GSN Board of Directors is organizing its 2nd Student Showcase. It consists of a 2 hour showcase of student research at the GEOIDE Annual Scientific Conference 2011 in Toronto. The showcase is designed with the following goals:
Abstracts for student presentations should be on topics addressing gathering, storing, processing, managing, delivering, and using geographic information or spatially referenced data. Authors should strive to highlight the significance of their research and how it fits within the broader geomatics field and everyday life. Also, reviews and taxonomy-based abstracts are welcome. The submitted abstracts should describe novel research or work in progress in a field related to a current GEOIDE project. To that aim we are soliciting extended abstracts (250 words max), plus one optional page of supporting material (images & figures) that describe original research in geomatics and related disciplines. Work in progress presentations showcasing preliminary results are welcome! The abstracts will be reviewed by a committee of distinguished geomatics experts. The committee will assess the proposals and invite the selected authors to present at the student showcase. Each presentation will be allotted a maximum of ten minutes for the presentation and five minutes for questions. The proceedings will be published in on the GSN website. In addition, subject to the approval of the presenters, video recordings of the presentations will be made available online. Please use font size 12 with 1" margins. The level of technical detail should be enough for the main contributions to be understandable yet to be accessible for people with modest background knowledge. Please follow the instructions and submit your abstracts to the following website: https://cmt.research.microsoft.com/GEOIDE2011/ Important Dates:
(Note: Only abstracts submitted by GEOIDE students will be considered) NB: A free GSN dinner is planned the evening before the showcase! More info to come! |
