THE CONFERENCE SITE

The Québec City Convention Centre is an exceptional meeting place in the heart of a charming city. It is renowned for its solid reputation, prestigious events, cutting-edge technology, and expertise in hosting green events. Within its walls you will find a vibrant, healthy, and comfortable atmosphere.

Located in the heart of the city, just steps away from beautiful Old Québec, the Québec City Convention Centre was awarded top honours in 2006, as it was crowned best in the world by the International Association of Congress Centres (AIPC) for the overall experience and voted by the clients.

  • The Québec City Convention Centre
    1000, boul. René-Lévesque Est
    Québec (Québec) G1R 5T8

The fortified city of Québec, today a UNESCO Heritage Site and veritable treasure trove of experience, is the first urban district in North America to be so designated. It counts the largest concentration of 17th and 18th century buildings in North America. Québec City ranks 2nd among the 10 best destinations in the Americas (excluding the United States), 5th including the United States (Condé Nast Traveler (USA) - Top 100 - The Best in the World, October 2010).

Québec City is easily accessible by plane, car, train and ship. The city acts as a meeting point because of its strategic location on North America's northeastern coast. It is about an hour and a half by plane from New York, Detroit, Chicago or Toronto, and less than 50 minutes from Montreal. Québec City is an important touristic destination with more than 5 million visitors a year.

Airport

The Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport welcomes more than 1,200,000 passengers a year aboard all types of aircraft. Ten or so carriers offer over 350 weekly regular flights to various North American, Southern or European destinations. The Québec City Convention Centre is located 20 km from the Airport.

Banks and Caisses Populaires (credit unions)

Normal banking hours are from 10 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday, with extended hours on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at some locations. Traveler's cheques, ideally in Canadian funds, are the safest way to carry money and are accepted by banks and major commercial establishments.

There are different Canadian chartered banks with branches throughout the area along with over 100 Caisses populaires Desjardins (credit union) branches. See the local listings in the telephone directory.

Credit Cards

Major credit cards such as American Express, MasterCard and Visa are accepted almost everywhere. With the advent of automated teller machines, visitors can do banking through network systems like "Plus", "Circus", "Interac", etc. and enjoy excellent rates of exchange.

Currency

Canadian and American dollars are not at par. American currency is accepted in most establishments at variable exchange rates. On arrival, visitors should obtain Canadian currency at the official exchange rate in order to avoid problems.

Driving in Canada

A valid driving licence from your country of residence or a valid International Driving Licence is required for driving in Canada.

The following Car Rental Counters are available at the airport:

Electricity

Québec's electrical current is 60 cycles, 110 volts. An adapter is needed for electrical appliances using another type of current, such as the 220-volt European system. The power plugs used in Canada are of the two-pin, flat square-shaped type which are compatible with U.S. outlets.
